Now that we have identified what has been lost, what has
been changed, and more importantly what has been gained; let us now look into
the actual units that are available. We
will be going over a brief summary of each unit included in the new Wood Elves
army book in this series of posts followed up later with a full Unit Tactica
and Review after I have had more chances to play with the new book.
The Glade Lord and
Glade Captain
The Glade Lord was formerly known as the Wood Elf Highborn
and is still referred to as such in the flavor description of the unit whereas
the Glade Captain was previously referred to as the Noble. The Glade Lord serves as the martial lord
choice of the Wood Elf book as does the Glade Captain but also may serve as the
Battle Standard Bearer

Unit Type: Infantry
Special Rules: Always
Strike First, Forest Stalker, The Arrow of Kurnous.
Arrow of Kurnous – This is a special
rule where if you have a model with this rule in the army, at the beginning of
the game if the enemy general is within Line of Sight and 36” then they suffer
a S3 hit with no armour saves. This is
meant to represent the Wood Elves insult to the enemy general and an instrument
to remind them of their mortality.
The Glade Lord and Glade Captain have access to the Enchanted Arrows special rule and may upgrade their arrows accordingly.
Both may be mounted on an Elven Steed, a Great Eagle, or
a Great Stag. The Glade Lord may also
ride a Forest Dragon.
The Spellweaver and
Spellsinger
The Spellweaver is the Lord level wizard choice while the
Spellsinger is the hero level choice for the Wood Elf army. Both the Spellweaver and Spellsinger have
access to all 8 lores of magic, however the Spellweaver also has access to the
Lore of High Magic and Lore of Dark Magic as well.
